meet me at the corner of 23rd and constitution.

i am SO excited that you care about MY amazing and exciting life, errr the amazing and exciting life of lds singles in the dc area. Brandt and I decided to start a blog, chronicling the single life, because we're constantly debating who lives in cooler place. we both graduated from BYU from the same program and started the working world at the same time from opposite coasts. As we updated each other on our fun and exciting lives, we noticed a sense of competition and the debate is never-ending, so this is our public argument of who lives a cooler life.

here's the quick guide to the dc scene.
  • 4 Young Single Adult (YSA) wards within 10 miles of DC proper. Washington DC 2nd Ward, Colonial 1st Ward, Colonial 2nd Ward and Langley Ward.
  • if your driver's license dates to before 1979 or you know were alive when the SONY walkman was released, then you can go to the Potomac Ward (31+ ) which is a super social group too (and age is just a number...).
  • not to mention countless wards a little further out near some of the Maryland universities and suburbs of DC.
  • Washington DC LDS Temple is 20 minutes from the district (what we locals call downtown dc) and has a fabulous visitors center.
  • there are currently 4 senators that are LDS!
  • institute is oozing out of our ears here. NOVA has an 8 stake institute program, the BYU Barlow Center offers classes 3 days a week, there is institute class on the Hill (that's the Capitol Hill, where laws are made and magic happens, for those of you that are un-informed) every Friday, plus lots of smaller sessions around!
  • i went to 4 "parties" last weekend, all within 2 miles from my house. and this by no means says i am popular (i realized in 10th grade that could never happen) but it means there are endless nacho parties, dessert parties, s'more parties for no reason at all.
  • DC Metro Transportation system is AMAZING. you can be at the US Capitol one minute, the next at a county fair. you can be in the suburbs or downtown instantly. car or no car, you can stay hip and social. and you get to be smashed up against a cute lawyer on your way to work, all while trying to remember if you put on deodorant when you left the house this morning.
  • 172 offices of foreign embassies are located in DC = fabulous food.
  • 22 smithsonians as well as tons of other museums offer great dates and friends' nights out!
  • georgetown cupcakes is by far the best. it has a tv show. that's what i thought.
  • 9 universities in the dc area.
  • boston, nyc, and philly are only hours away.... meaning lots of cute out of towners!
there are so many more things i am excited to brag about.... but i don't want to smash Brandt too far into the ground...yet.
